Today's satellite phone report from Cameron (09 feb. 7:57pm PST):
"Around noon today I saw a tent or cabin on the horizon. The closer I came the stranger it looked.
It seemed to change shape. Finally, it lifted from the ground and flew away. I believe it was a
snowy owl. Very impressive. Today, while setting up camp I broke my hammer. I will improvise."
[[Note from Chuck: Cameron explained today that the "exciting explosions" he heard at the gravel
mine yesterday were detonations set by people working at the mine. I guess it's never too cold to
work at a gravel mine.]]
