It was 30 below here in Barrow last night, and it's normally about 10 degrees colder in the interior, so it could get pretty chilly! But I'm happy with my gear and preparations, and excited to go. The sled is heavy, with plenty of food and fuel aboard, and I'll move slowly to get to the hut in the first day or two. The whole trek should be about 90-100 miles, depending on a number of factors.
I'll keep posting updates to this page; a few pictures this AM, but there won't be any more after that until I get back.
Have a thrilling week!"
Satellite phone message from Cameron at 7:48pm PST:
"The weather was very good, so I decided to go completely to Iko Bay. I will stay here tomorrow to work on some equipment.
For the moment I'm safe, I'm warm, and I'm at Iko Bay."
Note from Chuck: Cameron got dropped off a few miles outside of Barrow, where he began pulling his sled. He is staying at a small
hunting cabin on Iko Bay belonging to Geoff Carroll.
