26 February 2007-Comments:

Today's satellite phone comments from Cameron (26 feb. 6:22pm PST):

"It was windy all day. Could not really work outside. Stayed mostly inside listening to strange noises of snow and wind. I managed to get a little bit of video in the morning, but I'm almost out of video, camera batteries, and slide film. I'm just kind of wrapping things up here. I'm now going to wait for the wind to change because I cannot move into that west wind.

The firewood that I'm burning must come from either Siberia of Canada. That's because those are the only places where there are big northward flowing rivers that flow into the Arctic Ocean from forested areas. The firewood burns a cold green rather than red flame, which is interesting. Also, I can dry out and prepare all the wood by leaning it up against the woodstove.

Arctic Foxes and Snowy Owls come close to the hut every day. I see them when I go outside to patrol around. When I hear a strange sound, I go outside and look around with the gun, making sure that it's not a bear. I have not yet found bear tracks. It has always been either my imagination or caribou."
