It's taken me a while to learn to take care of myself on expeditions, rather than just 'bashing through' the difficulties, and this time I'll be taking better care of myself than ever before. One way to start is with the best boots available. Above you see my running shoes (Nike Skylons, on the left), my Sorel _Bear_ boots (from my Iceland expedition, and my Sorel _Glacier_ boots. On this expedition I'll just be taking the Sorel _Glaciers_ with one spare pair of their synthetic felt liners and thick insulating footpads. They're a joy to wear oudoors; they're warm, soft, and I feel happy in them all day long. |
