'Lobster Claw' mitts from my expeditions to Iceland. They allow the finger to be used for dexterity, but it can also be drawn into the main hand compartment for warmth. The 'goo' on them is a seam-sealer to prevent water from getting in, which was important (but never entirely worked) in wet, cold Iceland, where I could often feel my fingernails scraping on chips of ice. In Alaska, I'll use different mitts. |
