| David Gordon, the inventor of the ArcticShield system of polar garments, will be providing the clothes that will keep me alive. | At Nike's World Headquarters, here in Oregon, I'm collaborating with the world's most innovative footwear designers in a three-year project focusing on extreme-conditions boots. | Nielsen-Kellerman provide meteorological instruments that will allow me to make a complete weather record of the expedition. | Pelican Producs has donated a 'bomb-proof' hard case for my electronic instruments. |

| Most of the time I'll be wearing heavy mittens, but in moments when I need dexterity, I'll be wearing Glacier Gloves. | In case of emergency, I'll be using Orion signaling devices. | One of the most important tools on a polar expedition is a good shovel, and I'll be using the same one donated to my SoloIce Expedition to Iceland -- back in 1999 -- by the great folks at Life-Link. | I'm working with Layne Simmons, of TenXsys, in the evaluation of health-monitoring devices; TenXsys makes monitors for NASA's astronauts, and in the 2008 and 2009 expeditions, I'll wear someting similar to record biometric data on a second-by-second basis. |

In severe cold, feet and hands are the first to be deprived of blood by the body, which is trying preserve heat in the core...So insulating the feet and hands is critical. Aspen Aerogels is providing me with several unique products for evaluation; Aerogel is so effective an insulator that it's used to insulate space suits...and it promises to revolutionize the cold-boot industry, at the least. | Insulating my body from the snow and ice, when I'm laying in my sleeping bag, is also critical: sleeping mats utilizing Aspen Aerogels are now manufactured by Pacific Outdoor Equipment: they've kindly donated a prototype, and I'll review it when I return. |

| I'll be carrying the flag of the The Explorers Club, as I did in 1998 on the The Manteño Expedition. | The Royal Geographical Society's Expedition Advisory Centre will receive my fourth Expedition Report since 1999. | I'm preparing a report on some novel methods I'll be using for the The Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments. |
The Scott Polar Research Center will archive my still photos, sound recordings, and video footage. |
